Protection for aluminumboats

Published 16.3.2026

Not only fiberglass boats require protection. Electrical installations in boats increase the risk of electrical leakage in ports. Leaks can also cause corrosion damage to other aluminum boats in the port. For this reason, it is worth protecting aluminum boats with insulating paint layers. Also, Copper-based antifouling paints can be recommended by some manufacturers for aluminum boats. This may be OK if a sufficient layer of insulating paint has been painted under according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Still problems can occur when scratches, corners, the back of rails and keel are unprotected. In the video Teemu from Tombi fixes a boat where the corrosion problem has caused damage under paint layers. The bottom is now to be painted with Seaboost Easy Clean, which protects against moisture and corrosion. The surface is developed to withstand hard brush washing, UV radiation and tough cleaning agents as barnacle removers.
